Xolani Khumalo appointed as Ekurhuleni’s Community Services MMC

Popular Moja Love TV presenter Xolani Khumalo has been appointed as MMC for Community Services and by-law enforcement in the City of Ekurhuleni.

Khumalo recently entered politics under the ActionSA banner and has emerged as the party’s mayoral candidate in the metro.

Ekurhuleni Mayor Doctor Xhakaza has made sweeping changes to his mayoral committee - a move that has seen ActionSA joining the African National Congress (ANC)/Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) coalition in the city.

Xhakaza's 10-member mayoral committee has for years been dominated by the ANC and EFF.

The ANC has retained five portfolios, the EFF has been reduced to two, while ActionSA, the National Freedom Party (NFP) and the Patriotic Alliance (PA) have each received one seat.

Despite facing criminal charges and a recently withdrawn murder case, Khumalo has been appointed MMC for Community Services and By-law Enforcement.

In fact, the ActionSA mayoral candidate is expected to appear at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning after handing himself over following an alleged assault , which ActionSA claims involved a suspected drug dealer.
