Gift of the Givers provides aid after Imizamo Yethu fire

Gift of the Givers is on Wednesday providing humanitarian aid to residents of the Imizamo Yethu informal settlement following a devastating fire.

Fire and Rescue services received reports of the blaze shortly before 3pm on Tuesday.

The organisation is appealing to the public to donate food and hygiene essentials.

Spokesperson Ali Sablay said donations can be dropped off at the designated centre at Cavendish Square.

"Gift of the Givers has been inundated with calls from community leaders and fire victims following the devastating blaze at the Imizamo Yethu informal settlement. Gift of the Givers will activate an immediate humanitarian response as soon as the area has been declared safe by the relevant authorities."
