Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero is facing yet another motion of no confidence in the city council.

The latest motion has been tabled by Al Jama-Ah despite the party being part of the ANC-led coalition governing the metro.

The party says it has grown frustrated with Morero, accusing him of failing to take into account the concerns raised by coalition partners.

In the last two months alone, the Al Jama-Ah party has filed three motions of no confidence against Johannesburg mayor Dada Morero.

The first motion, which was tabled in December, was withdrawn just before the vote. The second motion failed last month, while the third is set to be heard in council on Thursday.

ANC regional secretary Sasabona Manganye says the repeated attempts to remove the mayor are now becoming exhausting.

"We don't agree with the motion, especially considering that it's coming from a coalition partner. You can't resolve issues and contradictions through motion."

The motion to remove Morero comes just a few hours after the city elected the ANC’s Loyiso Masuku as its very first deputy mayor.
