The Department of Education in Limpopo has confirmed that schools in the Capricorn district will open on Monday amid a scholar transport saga.
Posts have been circulated on social media claiming there will be no teaching and learning after non-compliant scholar transport vehicles were impounded.
The Transport Department conducted an operation and clamped down unroadworthy vehicles.
The Education Department said all systems are in place to ensure that teaching takes place on Monday.
The province’s Transport Department said it will provide vehicles to ensure learners get to school safely.
Education Department spokesperson Mike Maringa said law enforcement authorities are on standby to deal with any attempts of disruptions.
“We are working with law enforcement agencies to assist us to deal with faceless and baseless posters that are flying on social media threatening learners who are supposed to be at school today.”
He said all learners are expected in all schools on Monday.
