The V&A Waterfront has pledged R200,000 to the Santa Shoebox Project, redirecting funds from its annual gift-wrapping fundraiser.

The initiative, launched in 2017, raised more than R90,000 in December alone.

The funds will help provide shoeboxes, spearheaded by the Santa Shoebox Project, filled with essential hygiene items, toys and stationery for underprivileged children.

V&A Waterfront head of communications Donald Kau said the donation reflects its ongoing commitment to meaningful community upliftment.

"We'd like to give a big thank you to our visitors who came shopping over the December period and used our gift-wrapping service, which raised almost a hundred thousand [rand] that we then matched."
