Minibus taxi operations have been brought to a halt as taxi operators affiliated with the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (CATA) protest ongoing violence within the association.
Hundreds of taxi owners and drivers are marching to the Nyanga Police Station on Monday morning, calling on police to prioritise investigations into a series of killings linked to disputes over taxi routes and alleged extortion.
Several taxi operators have been killed in recent months in violence believed to be connected to these conflicts.
The protest follows another incident of alleged arson at the Nyanga taxi rank last week, where five minibuses and four sprinter buses were torched.

Taxi operators claim the incidents are linked to extortion allegedly carried out by individuals within the association.
Police have not yet confirmed the motive for the fire, and investigations are continuing.
