Weekend weather forecasts show thunderstorms developing over Johannesburg and Pretoria, while Cape Town is set for warmer and mostly dry conditions, according to AccuWeather.
Johannesburg is forecast to start the weekend with some sunshine before storms develop later.
On Saturday, temperatures are expected to reach 24°C with a low of 14°C. The day will begin with some sun before turning cloudy with a couple of showers and a thunderstorm, mainly later.
Sunday will be cooler with a high of 22°C and a low of 13°C. The forecast indicates cloudy conditions with a couple of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
By Monday, temperatures will climb slightly to 24°C with a low of 13°C. Conditions are expected to remain cloudy most of the time with widely separated thunderstorms.
Pretoria is also expected to see unsettled weather through the weekend.
On Saturday, temperatures will reach 26°C with a low of 15°C. Forecasts indicate variable cloudiness with a thunderstorm in spots.
Sunday will see a high of 25°C and a low of 15°C, with cloudy skies and a couple of showers and a thunderstorm.
By Monday, temperatures are expected to remain warm at 26°C with a low of 16°C. The forecast predicts a morning thunderstorm followed by times of sun and clouds.
Cape Town’s weather looks much calmer, with warm temperatures and little chance of rain.
On Saturday, the city will see sunny to partly cloudy conditions with a high of 27°C and a low of 18°C.
Temperatures are expected to rise further on Sunday, reaching 30°C with a low of 19°C. Conditions will be very warm with increasing cloudiness.
By Monday, temperatures will cool slightly to 26°C with a low of 19°C, with sun through high clouds expected.
