Dubai, known for its glitz, glamour, and pristine resorts, has been dubbed a ‘ghost town’ as the Gulf state bears the brunt of two-thirds of Iran’s attacks.

As the war enters its third week, social media posts showing empty beach bars, sun loungers and pools have gone viral, reports world news correspondent Adam Gilchrist.

“Tourist attractions like theme parks have closed, hotels are offering cut-price deals, and it’s essentially become a bit of a ghost town, is what some are saying."

Dubai airport, previously one of the world’s busiest airports, has once again closed on Monday following nearby drone attacks.

Iran has fired over 1,800 missiles and drones at the United Arab Emirates.

“We are not talking about a war that is going to be nipped in the bud soon, despite what the American president likes to tell us,” said Gilchrist.
