Earlier in March, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) warned of heavy rainfall that could lead to localised flooding and the closure of bridges and roads.
The latest downpours come as Limpopo continues to recover from the January floods, which claimed the lives of at least 18 people.
In response to the resurgence of severe weather, the provincial Education Department has suspended schooling in affected districts for Monday and Tuesday, with the possibility of an extension.
Authorities said that incidents and structural concerns have also been reported in the Capricorn South and Waterberg districts, raising further safety risks for learners and teachers.
Meanwhile, the University of Venda has also temporarily suspended face-to-face academic activities due to the persistent rainfall and flooding.
In a notice issued on Sunday, the university said the decision follows safety alerts about flooded roads, mudslides and damaged bridges, which pose risks to staff and students travelling to campus.
The provincial Education Department said learners who are unable to sit for scheduled tests due to the flooding will be allowed to write them at a later date.
