Parly's ad hoc committee to discuss Thabo Bester's letter

The ad hoc Committee investigating allegations of corruption in the criminal justice system will discuss a letter from the convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester on Monday.
The committee will discuss the correspondence from Bester when it holds a virtual meeting to discuss housekeeping matters before it wraps up hearings this week.
The committee will also receive an update on the opening of cases against Paul O’Sullivan for being in contempt of parliament.
Monday’s meeting will be the final housekeeping meeting before the committee concludes its hearings with Nhlanhla Mkwanazi on Wednesday.

The committee will discuss a few outstanding matters, including the criminal charges it laid against O’sullivan last week.
Correspondence from Bester, who is currently incarcerated, will also be considered.
The committee, during its inquiry, did discuss high-level corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system, including links to Bester's escape in 2022 after faking his death in a cell fire.
The meeting will also get an update and legal opinion on the appearance of the suspended inspector general of intelligence, Imtiaz Fazel.
Fazel had requested permission from President Cyril Ramaphosa to give evidence.
Before Mkhwanazi’s appearance on Wednesday, National Commissioner Fannie Masemola will make his closing submission on Tuesday.
