Bellarmine Mugabe case: State says plea negotiations advancing

The state in the case against former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe’s son says plea negotiations with his legal team are at an advanced stage.
Bellermine Mugabe and Tobias Matonhodze returned to the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to make a plea, but the case was postponed to next Wednesday.
The pair is accused of shooting and injuring an employee at their Hyde Park home in Johannesburg last month.

It's understood that the plea agreement between the state and the defence could see Bellermine Mugabe and Tobias Matonhodze pleading guilty to some of their charges.
Their lawyer, Sinenhlanhla Mnguni, says negotiations should be finalised before their next court appearance.
"We are engaged in negotiations with the prosecution. The prosecutor on behalf of the state, did put it on the record that the matter is at an advanced stage. My understanding is that the state will be ready to finalise the plea next week."
