King Misuzulu 'won't stop fighting to run' Ingonyama Trust Board

Zulu monarch King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has lobbied traditional leaders in KwaZulu-Natal to rally behind the call for the government to hand over the Ingonyama Trust Board (ITB) to the Zulu kingdom.

The monarch wants the trust under his full control, as it administers almost 3 million hectares of land in KZN

Last week, the board was dissolved by the Land Reform and Rural Development Ministry.

But on Thursday, the Pietermaritzburg High Court overturned that decision.

The king addressed amakhosi and izinduna during the opening of the House of Traditional Leaders in Ulundi on Thursday.

“You know the challenges that we face when it comes to the Ingonyama Trust Board, so we are not going to stop fighting because we wish that [the] trust can be removed from Pretoria and be brought here so that we can run it ourselves.”
