The City of Tshwane has postponed a planned 29-hour water shutdown that was set to affect Bronkhorstspruit and surrounding areas this weekend.
The interruption was due to start on Saturday morning and run through to Sunday; it has now been called off due to unforeseen circumstances.
The shutdown formed part of infrastructure upgrades at the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant aimed at improving system efficiency and long-term reliability.
The work would have seen the installation of bulk water meters, with several areas including Ekangala, Rethabiseng and Zithobeni expected to experience interruptions.
The municipality had also indicated that water tankers would be deployed to assist residents during the outage.
The postponement comes amid broader water supply challenges in parts of Tshwane, where infrastructure pressures and maintenance work have contributed to periodic disruptions.
The city said a new date for the planned shutdown will be communicated as it continues with efforts to strengthen the reliability of its water supply system.
