Four men, aged between 22 and 47, were apprehended yesterday following a dramatic police pursuit along the R36 near Manoutsa Park in Limpopo.
The chase, involving a vehicle reported stolen earlier this month, ended abruptly when the suspects crashed their car. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, a bush knife, and a porcupine carcass.
According to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the vehicle used by the suspects had been hijacked in the Ritavi policing area earlier in March.
“A firearm with ammunition, a bush knife, and a porcupine carcass were discovered in the motor vehicle, which had been reportedly hijacked earlier this month in the Ritavi Policing area. The suspects are expected to appear before the Hoedspruit Magistrate's Court soon, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property, unlicensed firearm, endangered species, and reckless driving. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the involvement of the suspects in other crimes.”
