The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced a significant vehicle recall affecting 464 Ford models due to potential safety concerns.

This latest safety action impacts owners of the Ford Ranger XLT, the Ford Ranger Wildtrak, and the Ford Puma. According to the commission, the recall was triggered by a mechanical fault that could pose a direct risk to occupants and other road users.

In a separate but simultaneous action, 58 Hino 700 trucks distributed by Toyota South Africa Motors are also being pulled back from the market.

This specific recall is attributed to a defect in the fuel pump housing.

The NCC has confirmed that the affected Hino trucks were sold to consumers between February 18 and March 18, 2025.

"Owners of the affected vehicles and the drivers are urged to take back the vehicles to their authorised dealerships of both Ford as well as Toyota dealership to have the repair work done at no cost to consumers," said NCC spokesperson Pheto Ntaba.

Owners of the aforementioned Ford and Hino models are urged to contact their nearest dealership to arrange for inspections.

The commission has emphasised that all necessary repairs related to these defects will be conducted at no cost to the owners.
