The family of slain 46-year-old Elana Brooke has urged the public to refrain from further speculation related to her alleged murder.

Brooke was initially believed to have died by suicide, but after further investigation, police arrested her 24-year-old boyfriend, local cricketer Tristan Perez.

Perez was arrested on the 23rd of March and has since appeared in Wynberg Magistrates' Court on a charge of murder.

Brooke’s ex-husband and family spokesperson, David Brooke, has thanked the public for the outpouring of support following her alleged murder in Heathfield.

However, the Brooke family is concerned about false information related to the incident being shared on social media.

"We ask for privacy as we grieve and respectfully urge everyone to refrain from further speculation or the sharing of unverified information online. We wish to focus our energy on Elana’s memory and the legal process ahead."

Brooke described Elana as authentic, free-spirited, and full of life, a devoted mother, sister, daughter and friend whose legacy will live on through her daughter.
