ProNutro backlash: fans divided over new taste as PepsiCo confirms recipe change is here to stay.
Popular breakfast cereal ProNutro has been in the spotlight following the mixed reviews about its formula change.
Some consumers have taken to social media to complain about its new change in taste and texture.
Consumer journalist Wendy Knowler explained that manufacturer PepsiCo has introduced a ‘new generation’ of cereal with reduced sugar, a new texture for more versatility, and improved packaging.
In a response, PepsiCo said the change was made partly due to its 'ageing infrastructure and unreliable equipment performance'.
“Over time, it would have negatively impacted the quality of the product expected by our consumers.”
The brand says the formula remains high in energy, maintaining its high plant-based protein, 13 vitamins, and four minerals, with reduced sugar.
They added that the new packaging explicitly communicated the change in formula.
“It is not going to go back to the old one, so you should get used to it if you still want to eat ProNutro,” said Knowler.
