ActionSA demands immediate suspension of Ekurhuleni city manager

ActionSA plans to table a motion calling for the immediate suspension of Ekurhuleni City Manager Kagiso Lerutla.

This comes after his arrest alongside suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhanazi.

The pair faces charges including corruption and defeating the ends of justice.

They appeared at the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on Monday in a matter related to a speeding arrest that occurred in 2019.

ActionSA’s Tumelo Tshabalala said the gravity of these charges necessitates Lerutla’s immediate suspension.

"ActionSA holds that the gravity of these charges necessitates the immediate suspension of Mr Lerutla, not only to protect the integrity and public image of the city, but above all to uphold the principles of good governance."
