National carrier, South African Airways (SAA) has been hit with another disclaimer by the auditor general, as the airline's financial woes persist.

While some of the SAA group’s subsidiaries improved to qualified audits, the airline has received the worst possible audit outcome, despite making a slight profit from selling its Heathrow airport slot.

The airline and members of its board appeared before Parliament’s Transport Portfolio Committee to present its audit findings and annual report for the 2024/25 financial year.

SAA was back before parliament to present its latest financials.

The Auditor-General also gave its own presentation on its audit findings of SAA and some of its subsidiaries that managed to submit financial statements.

Thato Kunene, senior audit manager at the AG, said there doesn’t seem to be any improvement within the SAA Group.

"We have noted that the audit remains stagnant with the two entities, SA and SAA with disclaimed audits."

Transport Minister Barbara Creecy said it's unacceptable that the poor audits continue.

"We are very mindful that we’re in the public domain, and we are publicly accountable for our actions and it is beyond unacceptable to have repeat disclaimers. "

But SAA and members of the committee noted how the airline's catering subsidiary, air chefs, has improved in its performance and its audit outcomes.
