Magistrate to make bail decision in case against Fannie Nkosi

The presiding magistrate in the case against Sergeant Fannie Nkosi will have to decide whether his release on bail is in the interest of justice, following a lengthy application.
Nkosi’s bail judgement has been scheduled for Wednesday.
He made an appearance in the Pretoria North Magistrates Court on firearm-related charges and the theft of dockets.

Police allege they found seven guns in Nkosi’s home during a raid, some recklessly placed.
They also claim Nkosi hid dockets to shield suspected criminals and frustrate investigations.
Nkosi is facing schedule five offences according to the Criminal Procedure Act and the onus is on him to prove that his release is in the interest of justice.
But prosecutors insist there are major risks attached to his release.
Mkhwanazi’s lawyers have asked the court not to deny him bail as a form of punishment.
