Lusikisiki mass murder case: Court to hear final testimony from trial within a trial

The Mthatha High Court in the Eastern Cape is set to hear final testimony from the trial within a trial in the Lusikisiki mass murder case.
On Tuesday, three of six men accused in the matter are expected to testify after alleging they were being abused by police following their arrests.
The group is linked to the September 2024 massacre in Ngobozana village, where 18 people were shot and killed.
On Monday, accused three Siphosoxolo Mayekethe concluded his testimony, where he pointed to alleged police brutality, echoing the sentiments of accused two Aphiwe Ndende.
The State believes the allegations by the trio are a delay tactic.
The lead prosecutor, Advocate Mfundo Makhubo, questioned why they never reported this to the magistrate during their first appearance in October 2024.
The group claims they were threatened by officers to remain silent.
Officers have told the court that under no circumstances were the accused mistreated.
On Tuesday, the court is set to hear more on allegations of beatings, torture and forced statements.
