In April 2024, tau was arrested by police for the murder of Vereneeging engineer, Armand Swart.

Nkhwashu said during his meeting with Molefe, the suspected crime boss inquired about Tau’s chances of getting bail.

"He needed to know if the state will oppose bail as he wanted to pay the bail money for his friend. I told right away, in actual fact, I stopped him that i don’t talk work-related cases with anyone, not even my wife. If you want us to have a sound relationship, my work is off limits."

A few months after their meeting, on 6 December 2024, Molefe was arrested by police on suspicion that he had allegedly orchestrated the killing of Armand Swart.
