OUTA has called for transparency around the country's existing oil reserves.
The call comes after Finance Minister Enoch Godogwana announced this week that the R3 per litre general fuel levy cut - would be extended to June.
While OUTA has welcomed the relief its also called on government to convert existing oil reserves into fuel.
Spokesperson Wayne Duvenhage said government must find every way to reduce the cost of fuel  and protect businesses and the economy.
"What we'd also like to see is a lot more transparency around our oil reserves that we have even though they aren't as plentiful as we understand them to be but during times like this it might be advisable for government to introduce those fuel stocks. So we'd like to see some transparency on that front as well," said Duvenhage.
