For years electricity bills in Johannesburg have been run through the council, and your bill would come as part of your council bill.
City Power has decided to take over the billing directly, so they can get more of the money due to them.
Nicholls says the idea behind this is that giving the collection mechanism to the distributer will simplify the collection process.
He says the biggest question at this point is how people in Johannesburg will now receive their electricity bills.

“When we look at collections, it is actually a journey.”
- Christo Nicholls, CEO of Utility Consulting Solutions
