Collision between taxi and car claims 2 lives in Gauteng

JOHANNESBURG - Two people have died in a car crash when a taxi carrying passengers collided with another car on the R55-N14 in the Diepsloot and Krugersdorp area.

The two people were reported dead on scene by emergency services, while many others suffered serious to critical injuries and have been rushed to nearby hospitals.

Gauteng traffic police spokesperson Obed Sibasa said the cause of the crash is unclear at this moment.

“It is alleged that two cars collided, and a taxi went off the road and onto its side. Authorities are busy with the reconstruction of the fatal crash or accident to determine the cause. The intersection remains closed in both directions towards Krugersdorp or Midrand.”
