Chief Commercial Officer Thamsanqa Mathiso said City Power has recorded a 27% drop in infrastructure-related crime, thanks to joint operations with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD).

He added that customers and corrupt officials involved in bribery and illegal connections must also be reported.

Mathiso highlighted the challenge of reporting and stopping bribery.

"A customer would come to me and I say no and they will go to somebody else, but if they come to me, where should I report that customer so that if they come to me and I say no and I keep quiet, they will go to somebody who will say it's fine, I will bypass your meter, pay R500."
