As the weather warms up more cyclists are going to be getting back on the roads.
Unfortunately, this leads to a rise in serious incidents and accidents.
One Cape Town cyclist says she has survived two accidents caused by reckless drivers in the city.
The Pedal Power Association says they regularly receive reports of near misses or violent attacks on cyclists.
Robinson says cyclists and motorists all have a responsibility to follow the law and use the road carefully.
“People just blame cyclists or motorists very quickly depending on which side of the fence you sit, it's not always that simple.”

He adds that while the cyclist is far more likely to be injured in an accident, that does not automatically mean it is the driver’s fault.

He also argues that there are insufficient consequences for people who cause accidents where cyclists are harmed, regardless of who is at fault.
