Friday is day one of one of the most anticipated gigs on the music calendar, the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival.
Africa’s richest square mile, will be abuzz with jazz lovers who will fill the Sandton International Convention Centre to feast on a star-studded lineup of over 60 global artists.
They include American jazz princess Esperanza Spalding and celebrated and South African pianist Thandi Ntuli, among many others
The music extravaganza boasts several stages this year and promises to be a treat for the sophisticated ear.
The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz marks its 26th year of bringing together one of the continent's as well as the world’s biggest jazz festivals.
Jazz lovers will be treated to prestigious acts which will be on four stages: Dinaledi, Conga, Mbira, and Diphala.
Celebrations will start in the evening and go well into the early hours of Saturday.
The blends of local and international sounds are expected to move through the thousands of attendees who will hear the pulsating, beautiful rhythms spawned from more than 15 countries.
