Gondwana Private Game Reserve in the Western Cape is mourning the tragic loss of its CEO and co-owner FC Conradie, who was trampled to death by an elephant this week.
In a Facebook post, management said the incident occurred at around 8 am on Tuesday 23 July and although emergency medical services responded immediately, their chief was declared dead at the scene.
Conradie, aged 39, was married with three young children.
Gondwana described him as a beloved and highly respected figure - both within the private reserve and across the broader conservation community.
"FC’s absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy will live on in the land he loved, the lives he touched, and the vision he so passionately pursued."

Police have opened an inquest docket, and a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding Conradie's death is currently underway.
The public's been urged to refrain from speculation as the investigation continues.
At Conradie's funeral service on Saturday, attendees paid moving tribute to a man they loved and respected.
Her husband fit a lifetime into his 39 years, said an emotional Lo-ida Conradie, asking those present to stand up and applaud him for 'a life well-lived'.
"It took a giant to take a giant... May his life inspire you to LIVE. (Mag sy lewe hou inspireer om te LEEF.)"
