Listen below:
Despite a successful season, winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship trophy and being promoted to the PSL, the team has parted ways with head coach Simo Dladla.
The club says it was unable to reach an agreement with Dladla on a new contract.
Kadodia says the team was open to negotiations when it got promoted.
Moving into the PSL means increased risk as Dladla has no experience in the league, he adds.
“I felt that we had to put the risk together with the money in these situations.”
– Farouk Kadodia, Chairperson – Durban City FC
“When Simo was appointed in the NFD (National First Division), he was the right person for the job, having worked there for so long… this would have then been his maiden job in the PSL.”
– Farouk Kadodia, Chairperson – Durban City FC
“Coach has obviously done a great job; he has probably attracted the right opportunities, not only at our club but any other South African club… [and] they’ll call him up for a new job.”
– Farouk Kadodia, Chairperson – Durban City FC
