Magudumana was paid for use of her archive material in Netflix doccie she's now challenging, court hears

JOHANNESBURG - It’s been revealed in the Pretoria High Court that Dr Nandipha Magudumana was paid by the production company behind the Netflix documentary that she is challenging.

Magudumana and her accomplice, Thabo Bester, have approached the court for a temporary interdict of the production.

Bester's lawyers have argued that the documentary creates the impression that he is guilty of the charges against him.

Bester, Magudumana and seven others are accused of planning and executing his brazen escape from the Mangaung prison, where he was serving a life sentence.

Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s lawyer, advocate Lerato Moela, told the Pretoria High Court that she signed an agreement with production company Storyscope, which she now believes is unenforceable.

Moela also argued that the contract was not signed by the authorising agent, making it invalid.

Representing Netflix, advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, argued that Magudumana had distorted the contents of the agreement.

He said that Magudumana was paid for the use of her archive material and was represented by her attorneys when she entered the agreement.
