JOHANNESBURG - Residents of Westbury are protesting over ongoing water challenges in the area.
They say they want Joburg’s executive Mayor Dada Morero to address them regarding this issue.
The protest action has resulted in some traffic congestion in the area.
The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD)’s Xolani Fihla said motorists should avoid the area and find alternate routes.
"Currently Fuel Road and Harmony Street in Coronationville and Westbury are barricaded off to traffic, with Perth Road and Portland Avenue being opened for traffic to flow. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and to avoid Fuel Road and Harmony Street, and to use Price Street, Main, Perth Road and Portland Avenue as alternative routes.”
