A 32-year-old man linked to a cash-in-transit robbery in Sir Lowry's Pass village outside Cape Town has been arrested.
The robbery took place outside a grocery supermarket along Old Sir Lowry's Pass Road exactly a week ago.
The cash-in-transit security guard was robbed at gunpoint as he walked out of the store carrying a money bag.
The Hawks believe the suspect came from behind, pointed a firearm at the guard, and ran off with an undisclosed amount of money as well as the guard's firearm.
Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani explains what happened next.
"The suspect fled the scene on foot. The gateway vehicle, which was identified by a bystander, was later found with the suspect driving it yesterday, and was immediately arrested. Investigators have positively linked him to the incident."
The suspect will appear in court on Wednesday.
