Veteran actress Connie Chiume dies at 72

JOHANNESBURG - Veteran actress Connie Chiume has passed away at the age of 72.
Through a statement shared on her social media account, her family confirmed the passing of The Black Panther actress at the Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
Born in Welkom in 1952, the multi-award-winning actress starred in several local TV shows including Rhythm City, Zone 14 and most recently Gomora.
Chiume was also a motivational speaker, qualified teacher and chairperson for the Centre of Africa.
Speaking to Eyewitness News, her son Nongelo Chiume: “So I can confirm that Mam Connie Chiume has unfortunately left us today [Tuesday], during midday she was at Netcare Hospital in Mayfair she was in for a medical procedure. She was recovering well but unfortunately, we received news of her passing today [Tuesday].”
