The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society hosted its first-ever bird call contest on Saturday (23 August) to promote conservation awareness.
There are more than 580 types of bird species in Hong Kong.
While each contestant delivered 'brilliant' renditions of bird species, Bob Chan took home first place by impressing the judges with his imitation of the Eurasian tree sparrow, a familiar sight in the city.
Primedia's Chief Sub-Editor, Kabous le Roux, gave this one a go by mimicking a popular bird call in Mzansi, the hadida. You have to scroll to the audio player and fast forward to 05:16 to hear a very accurate rendition, which had all of us thinking we had a bird in the office this morning.
