JOHANNESBURG – The mother of a missing 35-year-old man who was last seen visiting his girlfriend at a student residence in Midrand, Johannesburg, is pleading for his return, dead or alive.
Lebo Mniki disappeared 16 days ago after entering Respublica Princeton Village.
His mother, Nontuthuzelo Mniki, says she needs closure on her son’s whereabouts.
Mniki was last seen on the 29th of August entering the student residence, but management says CCTV footage shows no sign of him leaving the premises.
Instead, his girlfriend and her roommate left the residence for home shortly after he disappeared and were only brought in for police questioning this week.
The girlfriend has told Mniki’s family that he allegedly assaulted her with a firearm on the day of his visit.
Mniki’s mother, Nontuthuzelo Mniki, says she does not condone violence, and if the assault allegations are true, she will personally take her son to the police to be arrested.
“If my son is still alive and someone has him as a captive, as a mother, I am apologising for whatever sins my son has committed. I am begging for his forgiveness. I am begging, please forgive him, whatever he has done,” said Mniki.
