JOHANNESBURG - The city of Joburg has confirmed that the chief whip of the council – Sithembiso Zungu – has been wounded after he was shot in the south of Joburg earlier on Monday.
It’s understood Zungu is receiving medical attention at an undisclosed facility.
Joburg council Speaker Margaret Arnolds confirmed the incident.
According to Arnolds, Zungu was on official council business when the shooting occurred.
However, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
