JOHANNESBURG - Alleged sex worker serial killer Sifiso Mkhwanazi will have to wait another day to learn the outcome of his trial within a trial.
The trial within a trial was ordered by Johannesburg High Court Judge Cassem Moosa to determine the admissibility of a confession Mkhwanazi allegedly made involuntarily to his father in 2022.
The 21-year-old Mkhwanazi faces six charges of murder for allegedly killing six sex workers, with seven counts of rape among a long list of others.
On Friday, if the court rules that the confession he made is admissible, it will be used against him in his main murder trial.
State Advocate Leswikane Mashabela: "I received a call this morning, at around 8 o'clock, from the accused's counsel informing he was not feeling well and will not be coming to court. I, unfortunately, did not ask him as to the nature of the illness but he promised me that he will be back tomorrow to proceed with the matter. It is my submission that the matter be rolled over to tomorrow."
