JOHANNESBURG – South Africa’s economy has narrowly averted a technical recession following a slight uptake in the gross domestic product (GDP).
Stats SA says the fourth quarter GDP grew by 0.1%, bouncing back from the previous quarter’s contraction of 0.2%.
The transport, storage and communication sectors were the largest positive contributors to economic growth.
Stats SA released the latest GDP data on Tuesday.
