JOHANNESBURG - ActionSA says it has accepted the resignation of its Limpopo chairperson, Kgoshi Letsiri Phaahla, accusing him of being bought by Former President Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party.
Phaahla’s membership has been terminated. He was also the party’s premier candidate ahead of 29 May polls.
The organisation said it was initially told Phaahla’s frustrations were related to challenges over resources, but later found out he was negotiating to join the MK party.
Victor Mathomela, who served as the head of campaigns for the party in Limpopo, will take over from Phaahla.
“It was later found out that Phaahla had been negotiating his membership of uMkhonto weSizwe for some time, while extolling the virtues of ActionSA in the campaign,” said ActionSA’s communications director, Samkelo Mgoboz.
“It's believed from credible sources that Phaahla was offered some inducements to join the MK. This is the kind of patronage politics that has no place in ActionSA.”
