When they arrived, they found four gunshot victims between the ages of 14 and 26.
The shooting follows a flare-up of gang-related incidents over the past few weeks.
However, police say the motive for the shooting has not yet been established.
"Mitchells Plain police were called to the crime scene, and upon arrival at the scene, the victims were already taken to a medical facility for medical treatment," said Western Cape Police Spokesperson Wesley Twigg.
"According to reports, unknown suspects driving in a white Kia started shooting at the victims and fled the scene."
Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to contact police on 08600 1011.
