JOHANNESBURG - Ekurhuleni Mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana and council Speaker Nthabiseng Tshivhenga are both set to face votes of no confidence on Thursday.
The bid to have Ngodwana removed from the mayoral office was tabled by ActionSA, while the motion to boot out the Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) speaker was filed by the Democratic Alliance.

Tshivhenga is accused of protecting fellow EFF councillors who are accused of attacking African National Congress (ANC) members during a council meeting in February.
ActionSA caucus leader Siyanda Makhubo said the two motions are a chance to destabilise the ANC-EFF run municipal government.
“ActionSA insists that the city’s finances need to be stabilised, the institutional review rapidly implemented, and quality services be delivered to our residents as soon as possible.
“This cannot take place until both the EFF’s puppet mayor, Ngodwana, and their delinquent speaker are removed from their positions.”
