South Africa's recently experienced such a high rate of qualifications scandals, that it's been called a 'pandemic'.
This falsifying of credentials by some high-profile individuals has highlighted the need for institutions and companies to use reliable verification processes, particularly when they make senior appointments.

Verified CV company PrivySeal provides services that make it possible for employers to do exactly this.
Since 2015 it has enabled what's termed Certificate Issuers to securely issue these documents on their website domain to confirm key information.
These bodies include qualification authorities, higher education institutions, recognised professional bodies and statutory regulators.
"Utilising secure real-time certificates and seals, we issue, update, revoke, or re-issue credentials, providing instantaneous proof of authenticity for members, licensees, graduates, and more."
"This dynamic system contributes to the establishment of a trusted global marketplace."

In conversation with Bruce Whitfield, CEO Stephen Logan clarifies that PrivySeal is not a background checking company.
"What we're trying to do is create a means for South Africans, or anyone, to go and create credentials legitimately on their domain...
"...so nobody has to go and do that background checking because we think background checking is laborious, costly and actually impedes job creation."

For a job applicant, the reality is that HR managers are looking at thousands of CVs, Logan points out.
If you have verified credentials from a platform like PrivySeal he says, your CV will 'rise up like' cream to the top of the pile.
"What we're hoping is that thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of companies will do that because there is no cost and suddenly all the employees will have a means of verifying their experience."
