JOHANNESBURG - The Pretoria High Court has set aside the controversial R5 billion contract awarded by the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) to Thuja Capital.

The court declared the contract invalid.

It was awarded to businessman Mthunzi Mdwaba of Thuja Capital for a jobs creation project.

Mdwaba publicly accused Minister Thulas Nxesi and other high-ranking government officials of soliciting a bribe.

Nxesi denied these allegations in November, urging Mdwaba to provide evidence of the allegations.

On Friday morning the court also ordered Mdwaba to stop defamatory claims against Nxesi.
