A leaked audio recording has revealed African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa's dissatisfaction with the party's 2024 election campaign.
In the recording, heard by Eyewitness News, the president shared his thoughts on the ANC's readiness and deployment plans for the May 29th polls.
He can be heard complaining that the campaign lacks energy and claims the National Executive Committee (NEC) members leave volunteers high and dry.
"The ANC campaign doesn't have the necessary energy, was not being felt on the ground, that's according to the President."

It's also according to ANC elections head, Mdumiseni Ntuli says Madia, who can also be heard in the hour long audio recording.
So who is to blame for the lacklustre campaign?
"The culprits really are the NEC members, the executive committee members who are not coming out, who are leaving ANC volunteers high and dry at engagments. They should be meeting citizens."
Tshidi Madia, Political Editor - EWN
Madia says much of the problem is that self-interest continues to preoccupy many ANC members.
"What you've seen in the past is an ANC that's able to come together and focus on the bigger picture...to hear that's not happening at NEC level is quite interesting."
Tshidi Madia, Political Editor - EWN
And problems aren't just at NEC level, adds Madia.
"We are in Gauteng and I battle to find ANC programmes...You call the ANC in Gauteng and say, hey, where are your leaders today and you will not get answers."
Tshidi Madia, Political Editor - EWN
