DURBAN - ActionSA in KwaZulu-Natal wants the eThekwini Municipality renamed after former Zulu Prime Minister Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
The party said it would table a motion at the metro's next council meeting to pay tribute to Buthelezi's legacy. He died in September 2023 at the age of 95.
ActionSA said renaming the eThekwini Municipality after Buthelezi would ensure that his contributions in society would be remembered for generations to come.
The party said Buthelezi's lifelong dedication to fighting against apartheid and his commitment to peace and reconciliation deserved this honour.
Buthelezi served as the traditional prime minister since 1954, holding the position for 69 years before his death.
ActionSA said it would be reaching out to other political parties to support the motion.
