IEC confident that special voting will run smoothly in KZN

JOHANNESBURG - The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) said that special voting would run smoothly in KwaZulu-Natal, with measures in place to prevent any disruptions.
At the weekend, the commission confirmed that one of its officers was threatened and some individuals entered one of its warehouses without authorisation, accusing the commission of vote rigging.
It said that its officers in the province were comfortable with the planning that had gone into the elections and the safety plans in place.
"Things will run very well in KZN. The college and particularly the electoral officers are fairly comfortable with their planning, operationally, logistics... even with the mishaps we had over the weekend, they are unfazed," said the commission's Mawethu Mosery.
