CAPE TOWN - With the flu season in full swing, Capetonians are advised to visit their local clinics for their flu shots.
The city's health department said the flu vaccines were available for vulnerable groups, including the elderly and pregnant women free of charge.
Heart disease, hypertension, stroke, lung disease, and diabetes patients are also encouraged to take the flu shots.
Community service and health MMC Patricia van der Ross has advised anyone who's not feeling well to stay home or wear a mask when leaving the house.
"So, if you are in one of the qualifying groups, please present to your nearest clinic as soon as possible, to get your vaccination before stocks run out. We do have to remind the public that, just like any other vaccine, the flu vaccine will not prevent you from getting flu, but will likely ensure a far milder episode should you contract the virus."
