CAPE TOWN - The Cape Crime Crises Coalition is calling on the government to fulfil its constitutional mandate to protect its citizens.
The coalition met with various other anti-crime organisations on Tuesday night to discuss a plan to rid the Cape Flats of gang violence.
This follows weeks of ongoing shootings in six Cape Flats areas, which has left dozens of people dead and residents living in fear.
Coalition's chairperson, Llewellyn MacMaster, said the aim was to hold the government accountable.
"We want to continue mobilising and empowering civil society so that we can create a powerful social movement against gang violence and the illegal drug trade that is going on."
