Xaba elected as the new mayor of the eThekwini Metro Municipality

DURBAN - Former African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament, Cyril Xaba, has been elected as the new mayor of the eThekwini Metro Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal.
Xaba replaces Mxolisi Kaunda, who was redeployed to the National Council of Province (NCOP).
Xaba was elected unopposed in a special council meeting that took place at the Durban ICC.
“We are now clear there are no further nominations I can confirm councillors. I, therefore, declare councillor Cyril Vusimuzi Xaba as the mayor of the eThekwini Municipality," said Council Speaker Thabani Nyawose.
